CANSECO, WIFE ATTEMPT RECONCILIATION

Jose Canseco and his wife, Esther, are attempting a reconciliation just 2 1/2 months after the Oakland Athletics slugger filed for divorce in Florida, Canseco's lawyer said.

Canseco's divorce petition will be withdrawn from a Florida court, said lawyer Lowell Sucherman. Esther Canseco's petition filed in California also is to be withdrawn.

"They are married and back together. They don't want to go through a divorce. It's an ugly process," Sucherman said.

Canseco filed for divorce in Miami on Jan. 16, saying his marriage to the former Miss Miami was "irrevocably broken."

Esther Canseco counterfiled on Feb. 6 in California, a community property state that requires equal division of the couple's belongings.
