UVA NAMES FOOTBALL CAPTAINS

University of Virginia football coach George Welsh has announced that offensive tackle Ray Roberts, quarterback Matt Blundin, defensive back Tyrone Lewis and defensive tackle Don Reynolds will serve as captains for the 1991 UVa football team.

It is the first time since 1983 that Virginia has had four captains. The players were selected by a vote of their teammates.

Roberts was a first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection last season and received the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, given annually to the top offensive lineman in the ACC. Blundin has served as Shawn Moore's backup the past two seasons and has started two games.

Lewis has started 36 consecutive games during his three seasons at Virginia and is the only returning starter in UVa's secondary. Reynolds was third on the team in tackles last season with 68, best among the down linemen. - Staff report
