BLUNDIN THROWS 2 TDS IN UVA SCRIMMAGE

Quarterback Matt Blundin completed 17 of 26 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns, and defensive end Chris Slade was in on eight tackles, including four sacks, to highlight Virginia's second spring football scrimmage Saturday.

Blundin completed touchdown passes of 30 and 11 yards to wide receiver Brian Satola. Satola caught five passes for 90 yards and two scores.

The Cavaliers' leading rushers were tailbacks Terry Kirby and Nikki Fisher, and fullback Gary Steele. Kirby carried 20 times for 103 yards and a touchdown; Fisher, from Martinsville, rushed 18 times for 96 yards and two touchdowns; and Steele gained 49 yards on 13 attempts.

Slade's sacks totaled 31 yards in losses, and he also caused a fumble. The leading tackler was tackle Matt Quigley with 10.

The defensive unit intercepted five passes and recovered five fumbles. Defensive back Kieth Lyle had two interceptions and end Mike Frederick recovered two fumbles.
