FLOUNDER HITTING

Early season anglers are beginning to catch a few fish along the coast of Virginia, even through the water temperatures remain too cold for peak spring sport.

One sure sign of spring is the flounder fishing off Wachapreague. Although stocks of these fish are at a record low, several 10-fish limits have been landed recently.

Commercial landings show that black drum and grey and speckled trout have moved into the Chesapeake Bay. The water still is too cold for bluefish.
