SAUNDERS, JOHN R./ John Randolph Saunders, age 71, of Route 1, passed away Saturday, April 6, 1991, at his residence. He was born October 25, 1919, in Franklin County, a son of the late Jesse Saunders and Bessie Spradlin Saunders. He was a veteran of World War II and was a retired employee of the Lane Company. He is survived by his wife, Naomi Creasy Saunders; one son, John H. Saunders, Hurt; three daughters, Mary S. Rader, Goodview; Bessie S. Rader, Moneta; Sally Faye Ridgeway, Hurt; eight brothers, Paul Saunders, James Saunders, Jerry Saunders, Hardin Saunders, Jefferson Saunders, all of Bedford; Walter Saunders, Junior Saunders, both of Lynch Station; Odell Saunders, Altavista; two sisters, Shirley Wilson, Lynch Station; Bessie Sue Roberts, Thaxton; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 9, 1991, at 11:00 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston, by the Rev. David Rowland. Interment will be in the Radford Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the funeral home.
