RADFORD BRINGS WINNING TO PCS

For those who might not have caught his show the last time it was touring through Pulaski County Speedway, Paul Radford introduced himself more vividly this time.

Fresh off a track championship at rival Franklin County Speedway, the 59-year-old from Ferrum won the PCS opener Saturday night in the first time he'd set tire on the track in over a year.

Radford exploited pole-sitter Danny Willis' looseness midway through the race then stayed in front the rest of the way to win the Winston 200 Late Model Stock 100-lap feature. He collected double points and the $1,500 purse.

Radford's cause was aided when mishaps on a slick surface claimed contender Tink Reedy and slowed down Ronnie Thomas, the PCS defending champion. Only Radford and second-place Gene Pack finished on the lead lap. Terry Lawson was third, a lap down.

Ricky Jefferson denied Allen Willard a chance to win two races in one night when he edged Willard in the Modified Minis. Willard earlier had won his first Pure Stock race by beating William Flinchum and Jon Tolley.
