Johnny Goff of Big Island was shot in the upper left chest with a 22-caliber handgun during a dispute underneath the Blue Ridge Parkway bridge over U.S. 501 in Big Island about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Goff was released from Lynchburg General Hospital Sunday. A 16-year-old, whose name was not released because of his age, has been charged with malicious wounding.
About 3:30 a.m. on Virginia 626 east of Huddleston, Ernest T. Roach was shot in the abdomen with a shotgun.
Roach was transported by Life-Guard 10 helicopter to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery to repair damage to his intestines and kidney. He was in critical condition late Sunday.
Ricky E. Updike of Route 1, Lynch Station, was charged with malicious wounding.
