FUGITIVES ARRESTED IN COLONIAL BEACH

A fugitive wanted for murder in Washington, D.C., barricaded himself in his motel room when authorities tried to arrest him Sunday, but the man surrendered after negotiations, the FBI said.

No one was injured.

Will Garrett, a spokesman for the FBI's Richmond office, said agents received a tip that two fugitives from Washington were in Colonial Beach. Agents tracked the men down at a motel.

Bobby Lee Hodges, 45, was arrested about 10:25 a.m. Sunday outside the motel after he left his room, Garrett said. Hodges was wanted on a federal warrant for receiving stolen property and on a parole violation, the FBI said.

When law enforcement officers tried to arrest Herbert Randolph Brown, he barricaded himself inside his room. The motel was evacuated, then officers began negotiating with Brown, Garrett said. Brown, 32, was wanted on a federal murder warrant, the agency said.

Authorities negotiated with Brown in person and over the telephone, and he surrendered about 10:45 a.m., Garrett said.

Neither of the fugitives was armed, he said.
