YOUTH TEAMS DO WELL IN STATE COMPETITION

Pulaski County youth basketball teams performed well in Virginia Recreation and Park Society competition for the second year. Last month, seven VRPS Regional Tournaments were held thoughout Southwest Virginia. Pulaski Parks and Recreation hosted junior boys (14 and under) at the county high school.

The Pulaski Cougars placed second in junior boys in an eight-team field. They beat Amherst (55-37) and Salem (69-17) to reach the final against Roanoke, which won the title game 50-42.

The Pulaski County Dukes, girls 12 and under, finished second, falling to Roanoke County 35-34 in the title game in Danville.

The Pulaski Tarheels, boys 12 and under, won three of four games in Galax, finishing runner-up in their division.
