Stanley Earl Lawrence, age 89, of Route 1, Check, died Sunday, April 7, 1991, in a Roanoke hospital. He was the son of the late John W. and Sarah Conner Lawrence and was preceded in death by a son, Clay Earl Lawrence. He was a retired merchant and a member of Haven's Chapel United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, having served as Superintendent of Sunday School and as trustee of the church. He was a 50 year member of Floyd Masonic Lodge #329 AF & AM. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Carr Lawrence; four daughters and sons-in-law, Stanley Bea and Frederick M. Harmon; June and Russell James, both of Roanoke; Diana and Wesley Wimmer, Pilot; "Pinky" and John Jinnett, Knoxville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Haven's Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Ecklund, the Rev. John Davenport and the Rev. Layne Board officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Maberry Funeral Home in Floyd. Active pallbearers will be, Lyle Wimmer, Rene Wimmer, John Lawrence, Clay Vest, Martin Roberts, and Hubert Barton.
