Earl Smith Horne Sr., age 83, died Sunday, April 7, 1991, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. He was a member of the William King Masonic Lodge No. 227 and a lifetime member of the Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club. He also served on the Smyth County School Board. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louise Horne, Saltville; one son, Earl Smith Horne Jr., Blowing Rock, N.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Patsy Ann DeBord, Marion; Mrs. Betsy Jo Little, Blacksburg; Mrs. Jo Anne Schmidt, Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, Mr. William Hicks Horne and Mr. Fred Jessie Horne, both of Welch, W.Va.; one sister, Mrs. Katherine Breeden, Pineville, W.Va.; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 Tuesday evening in the Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.N. Howard officiating. Entombment will be Wednesday, April 10, 1991, at 10:00 a.m. with Masonic services in the Mount Rose Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 Tuesday evening at Henderson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Eye Bank of Virginia or the Saltville Rescue Squad.
