COMPUTER GROUP BACKS COMPONENT

Twenty-one computer companies will announce today they have formed a consortium to support an advanced microprocessor for computer work stations, industry sources said.

The group is viewed by some industry observers as an effort to counter the powerful influence of several leaders in the work-station field, including Sun Microsystems Inc. and Hewlett-Packard Co. - Associated Press
