Rev. Robert Lee Camden, age 93, of Big Island, died Tuesday, April 9 ,1991, in Salem. He was preceded in death by his wife, Etta Barbara Strum Camden. He was born in Big Island October 24, 1897, was the son of the late Robert Woods Camden and Ada Gillaspie Camden. He was a retired Southern Baptist Minister and a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. During his ministry he pastured the following churches Honaker Baptist Church, Honaker; Central Baptist Church, Altavista; Pennington Gap Baptist Church, Pennington Gap, Va.; Beulah Baptist, Sontag,; Glade Hill Baptist Church, Glade Hill. Rev. Camden is survived by two daughters, Mary Belle Perdue; Stella Mae Halstead; one son-in-law, Martin E. Halstead; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, all of Salem. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Hunting Creek Baptist Church by The Rev. Larry E. Sprouse with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends today at Diuguid Rivermont Chapel from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Thursday at Hunting Creek Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
