John Vanlew, Jr., age 85, of the Heritage Green Village, Greensboro, N.C., died April 8, 1991. He was a native of Roanoke and a retiree of the C&P Telephone Co. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine White Vanlew, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Louise Vandegrift, Greensboro, N.C.; a son, John Vanlew, III, Kernersville, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Louise V. Taylor, Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home, Kernersville, N.C. Graveside service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Fair View Cemetery, Roanoke. Memorials may be made to Hospic of Greensboro, N.C.
