PHAR-MOR DOUBLING ITS SPACE WITH MOVE

Phar-Mor Inc. said Tuesday it is doubling the size of its store at Towne Square Shopping Center in Roanoke, moving into space formerly occupied by the now-closed Ames discount department store. The new location will give the Youngstown, Ohio,-based company more than 79,000 square feet of space, making it one of the larger of the chain's 245 stores.

Jeff Durosko, spokesman for Phar-Mor, said the company plans to open two new Virginia stores this year, in Petersburg and Fredericksburg, and will open a store at Potomac Mills, Md., next month. - Staff report

Published correction ran on April 11, 1991.

Phar-Mor will open a new store in Potomac Mills Shopping Center near Woodbridge in May. The location was given incorrectly in Wednesday's newspaper because of a reporter's error.
