ATTORNEY GENERAL TO DEFEND SECRECY

The attorney general's office will represent the Senate Finance Committee in a lawsuit charging the committee with violating the state's Freedom of Information Act.

The decision was reached Tuesday in a meeting closed to the public, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.

The American Civil Liberties Union and Common Cause sued March 26, citing two meetings that were convened without public notice - one of the finance committee in December at a Chesterfield hunting lodge and the other involving House-Senate budget negotiators in February. - Associated Press
