ALEXANDER APOSTOLOU, ROANOKE LAWYER, DIES

Alexander N. Apostolou, a lawyer and former chairman of the Roanoke Democratic Committee, died Tuesday. He was 73.

Apostolou, who practiced law in Roanoke for more than 40 years, ran for the House of Delegates in 1963.

He was active in city politics for many years and was vice president of the Virginia Young Democrats Clubs from 1953 to 1958. He was chairman of the city Democratic Committee in 1959-60.

Apostolou also was a former owner of Roanoke television station WRFT, Channel 27.

He obtained bachelor's and law degrees from the College of William and Mary.

Apostolou was an intelligence officer with an air fighter group in Italy during World War II.

He was past president of the Council of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.

Arrangements are being handled by Oakey's Roanoke.
