Mrs. Dorothy Terrill Smithey, of 1009 Old Country Club Road, died in a Roanoke hospital Tuesday night. She was the widow of Louis Philippe Smithey, the daughter of William R. Terrill and Annie Terrill and a long time active member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church. She was Past President of the Mill Mountain Garden Club, past Regent of the Nancy Christian Fleming Chapter of DAR, a member of the Modern Arts and a graduate of William and Mary College. She was a former teacher in the Roanoke City School System. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Nancy T. Smithey, Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at South Roanoke United Methodist Church 11:00 a.m. Friday by the Rev. James A. Hain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity. Friends may call at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
