Alex N. Apostolou, age 73, of Roanoke died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet V. Apostolou and his brother, Peter N. Apostolou. He was a Veteran of World War II serving in the Air Force and a Lt. Colonel (Ret.) in the Air Force Reserve. He was an attorney in the Roanoke area for over 50 years. He was a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the Marshall Wythe School of Law at William and Mary. He was a graduate of Legal Study at the University of Virginia School of Law. He was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1941 and a member of the Roanoke and the Virginia Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He was to be honored this year at the Brotherhood Citation by the National Conference of Christians and Jews. Surviving are two daughters, Karen Apostolou Gliarmis, Wilson, N.C.; and Constance A. Apostolou, Chapel Hill, N.C.; one son, Alexander N. Apostolou, Jr., Roanoke; two grandchildren, Nicholas Lee Gliarmis and Zachary Socrates Gliarmis; one sister, Effie A. Woutas, Houston, Texas. A Trisagion service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's South Chapel. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 12:00 noon Friday with the Rev. Nicholas G. Bacalis officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 5055, Roanoke, Va. 24012. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's South Chapel.
