LABOR RALLY SET SATURDAY

A "Worker's Solidarity Rally" will be held Saturday afternoon in Roanoke's Elmwood Park, featuring the state president of the AFL-CIO as well as other local and regional labor leaders.

"So many people are having problems," said Gerald Meadows, president of the Roanoke United Central Labor Council. "We just wanted [to have] it for all unions, all workers."

The AFL-CIO's Danny LeBlanc will be joined by area rail-union officers. The event is scheduled to begin at noon.
