BEDFORD MARKS PARK WITH SPECIAL POSTMARK

Bedford's Post Office will use a one-day special postmark this month to celebrate dedication of a new city park.

The postmark, in honor of the new Poplar Park on Grand Arbre Drive in the city, will be used as a Sunday cover on April 28, according to Bedford's postmaster, W. Page Wilkerson.

Featuring a sketch of a tree, the postmark can be received by sending stamped, addressed envelopes to the postmaster, Bedford, Va. 24523 to arrive in Bedford by April 26.

The park marks the location of the largest yellow poplar tree in the United States and the largest tree of any species in the state.
