ROANOKE OVERWHELMS LYNCHBURG

Brett Smith scored three goals and five other Maroons scored twice as Roanoke College rolled to a 17-9 victory against Lynchburg in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's lacrosse game.

Former North Cross player Dave Gibbons, Don Bergeron and Colin McGahren each scored twice as Roanoke (5-5 overall, 3-1 ODAC) took an 8-2 lead at halftime. The Maroons got two goals each from Don Trecy and Brad Hennegan, who also had three assists.

Bill Becker scored four times for Lynchburg (6-5, 1-3).

In a physical game that featured 133 ground balls, Roanoke's Eric Daly and Lynchburg's Geoff Graham were ejected for fighting.
