Library patrons urged to return overdue items

The public library systems in Roanoke, Roanoke County and Salem are encouraging library users to return long-overdue items to the libraries with no penalty.

Since the libraries are preparing for the full automation of their services and plan to re-institute fines for overdue materials, they have declared an amnesty period through April 30.

Materials borrowed from any of the three library systems may be returned to any of the 13 public library locations in the Roanoke Valley, regardless of the system affiliation.
