IN SCHOOL

MARYLEN HARMON, a teacher at Glen Cove Elementary School, has written and published a pictorial calendar of the history of black Americans. The reference resource offers a tidbit of history for almost every day of the year, a pictorial biography for each month and established dates of some of the more important Negro churches and organizations.

Harmon, author of "Martin Luther King Jr., a Heart of Love" and "Profiles of Black Excellence," spent more than a year and a half researching and preparing the calendar.

RICHARD KING has been received a 1990-91 Teachers of the Year award from the Virginia Educational Computing Association. King teaches multihandicapped children at Mountain View Elementary School. His entry in the statewide competition dealt with the use of technology to assist in the educational integration of multihandicapped children with non-handicapped peers.
