WOLFPACK'S CORCHIANI GETS AWARD

Chris Corchiani of North Carolina State, the nation's college basketball assist leader this season, received the Pete Maravich Award on Thursday.

Corchiani, a 6-foot-1 guard, averaged 16.3 points and 9.6 assists for the Wolfpack, who finished 20-11 and made the NCAA Tournament. He finished the season with 299 assists and totaled 1,038 for his career.

The Maravich Award, named for the late NBA and Louisiana State star, is given annually to the senior player who exemplifies leadership, athletic ability, sportsmanship and academic excellence.

The award, selected by a nationwide panel of 40 college sportswriters and broadcasters, was presented before the start of the Orlando All-Star Classic.
