BOTETOURT TOPS ALLEGHANY

Tim Epperly and Doug Bramblett scored two goals each as Lord Botetourt ripped visiting Alleghany 9-1 in a Blue Ridge District boys' soccer game on Thursday at Daleville.

Epperly added an assist for Botetourt (5-0-1, 1-0).

Alleghany is 0-1 in the district.

In other soccer:

At Roanoke, Danny Wright scored twice as host William Fleming beat Pulaski County 4-0 in a Roanoke Valley District game.

Roel Williams and Long Tran also scored for Fleming (2-3 overall, 1-1 in the district). Pulaski is 0-1-2, 0-1-1.

Kelly Graham got two assists for the Colonels, and goalie Sam Al-Zubaidi had 12 saves.

At Rocky Mount, Patrick Henry and Franklin County tied 1-1 despite two overtimes in the Roanoke Valley District game.

Wes Burrow scored for Patrick Henry (1-1-1, 0-0-1) and Stevie Reynolds scored for Franklin County (3-2-2, 0-0-2).

\ SOFTBALL: At New Castle, Craig County committed 23 errors, helping Parry McCluer outscore the Rockets 37-23 in a Pioneer District game.

Each team had a 12-run inning, and each scored in every inning. Leslie Fitzgerald was 4-for-6 with six RBI for Parry McCluer.

Teammate Stephanie Rhodes was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.

For Craig County (2-3, 2-2), Tina Trenor and Shelly Kesser each was 2-for-2 with three RBI.
