Wahlberg agreed to make public-service announcements on topics such as fire safety and drugs in return for eventual dismissal of a reduced charge of misdemeanor criminal mischief.
He did not enter a plea and a prosecutor said the charge would be dismissed when Wahlberg completed the announcements under a pretrial diversion program. The singer had been charged with arson following his arrest March 27 after a hallway fire in a Louisville, Ky., hotel, where he was staying.
