BLACKS FOUGHT IN ALL WARS FOR FREEDOM

A LETTER March 25 told about a restaurant owner in Roanoke who informed a patron that her black friend could come in with her but was not welcome alone or with other blacks.

Lest he and business people all over this nation forget: The black race has fought in all wars past and present, including Desert Storm, to allow people such as he to continue sowing bigotry, hatred and racial prejudice in the minds of our children in the 20th century.

My son returned from the Gulf War April 6. He is one of those soldiers who came back to this racist society, still a second-class citizen. When and why can't we all be treated as people and not by the color of our skin?
