CAPITAL MURDER CHARGES MADE IN SLAYINGS OF 2

A Norfolk man was charged with capital murder Thursday after he allegedly shot and killed a brother and sister and then drank beer during a nine-hour standoff with police.

Clarence Edward Moore Jr., 29, surrendered about 4 a.m. Thursday minutes after his mother arrived from Norfolk.

Moore was charged with two counts of capital murder, one count of abduction and three counts of using a firearm in a felony.

The bodies of Raymond DePriest Jr., 23, and his sister, Patricia DePriest, 22, were found when officers entered the apartment where the DePriests lived with Moore, Detective W. Ray Williams said. Police said Moore, who previously lived in Norfolk with his mother, had been living in the apartment about three weeks.

Jackie Yvonne DePriest, 23, who police said also lived in the apartment, was released unharmed. Authorities said the woman was Moore's girlfriend and a cousin of the DePriests.
