OLYMPIC MEDALIST'S RIDING CLINIC TODAY

Melanie Smith, an Olympic gold medalist from the 1984 Los Angeles games, will visit the Virginia Intermont College Riding Center today and Saturday.

Smith, who earned her medal in the Team Show Jumping category, will judge the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association regional competition hosted at Virginia Intermont today.

On Saturday, she will give a jumper clinic at 8 a.m. for Intermont riders. Spectator admission will be $20 per person.

"This is obviously a fantastic opportunity for our riders to learn from one of the best," said David Meacham director of the school's horsemanship program. The Riding Center is located off Interstate 81 at Exit 5 in Washington County.
