SOUND, VIBRATION TOPICS OF CONFERENCE

The minimizing of sound and vibration in everything from defense weaponry to automobiles is currently being revolutionized. The Conference on Recent Advances in Active Control of Sound and Vibration at Virginia Tech will be held next week to discuss new methods being used by scientists and engineers from around the world.

The conference, the first of its kind in the field, will be held Monday through Wednesday at the Donaldson Brown Center for Continuing Education Center on campus.

Chris Fuller, a mechanical engineering faculty member at Tech, will be the chairman of the event, which is expected to attract about 250 national and international experts in the field.

The conference is sponsored by NASA Langley Research Center, the Office of Naval Research and the U.S. Army Aerostructures Directorate. Keynote addresses will be given by Cambridge, Stanford and Southampton university members and three government experts.

Information and reservations may be made by calling the registrar at 231-5182.
