Monk said he was told earlier this week by UNCW officials that interviews should be completed by the end of April, and Monk said he expects to visit the campus of the Colonial Athletic Association school next week.
"The way everything is going here," Monk said, "I have to decide whether or not I want to make a move at this point in my career. I'll take a look and see what happens."
UNCW officials released the list of finalists this week. It includes Villanova athletic director Ted Aceto; North Carolina State associate athletic director Nora Lynn Finch; Paul Miller, assistant to the president for athletics at Louisiana Tech; East Carolina associate athletic director for external affiars Charlie Carr; and ECU assistant athletic director for marketing Jimmy Bass, who was a finalist for the VMI athletic director's job that went to Davis Babb.
Monk has been at Tech since 1987. He was director for the 1991 Metro Conference basketball tournament held in Roanoke in March and is director of the Metro's baseball tournament to be held next month in Salem.
