LADY HAWKS WIN STATE BASKETBALL TITLE

The Inner City Lady Hawks of Roanoke successfully defended their Virginia Parks and Recreation state girls' basketball title by defeating the Northern Region champion Mount Vernon Tigers 57-41 on Saturday.

Tasha Walker scored 16 points to lead the Lady Hawks in the 14-and-under age-division tournament. Elisha Jones added 15 points, and Caroline Mayes had 13. - Staff report
