GEPHARDT SAYS HE WON'T RUN IN '92

House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt, D-Mo., said Saturday he will not be a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1992.

"I'm not running," Gephardt told reporters before a speech to Frederick County Democrats.

Gephardt, who sought the nomination in 1988, said his duties as majority leader will prevent another run.

"I found from running the last time that you can only do one thing at a time," he said. "You can't do two jobs at once and this job really is a full-time job."

Gephardt talked to about 200 people at the dinner event. He spoke on education, the Persian Gulf War and other topics. He did not address his political plans during the speech.
