MARINE STAFF SGT. ERIK STRAUTNIEKS, whose wife, Christine, is the daughter of Harlene Witt of Bedford, recently received the Navy Achievement Medal for his superior performance of duty while stationed at Marine Corps Recruiting Station, Philadelphia.

\ PVT. KEVIN L. MILLER, son of Lois A. and James L. Miller of Bedford has completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

Miller is a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School, Bedford.

\ PVT. HARRY R. PATTERSON, Patterson son of Randy H. Patterson of 729 Longwood Ave., Bedford, and Sandra C. Hughes of Lynchburg, has completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.

The private is a 1990 graduate of Liberty High School, Bedford.

\ AIR FORCE STAFF SGT. GARRETT R. BONDS, a disaster preparedress technician, has arrived for duty at FAF Upper Heyford, England. Bonds is the son of Elbert H. and Lois Bonds of Goodview. He is a 1972 graduate of Staunton River High School.

\ TECH SGT. DAWN R. GROSECLOSE, a Morse systems supervisor at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska, has re-enlisted in the Air Force after 13 years of military service. She is the daughter of Joseph R. Burnette of Bedford and Elva E. Adair of Hillsville. Groseclose graduated in 1976 from Liberty High School.
