B.A.S.S. BACK AT KERR WITH A BIGGER PAYOUT

The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society has announced that its 1991-92 tournament trial will include a May stop at Virginia's Kerr Lake and a seasonal payoff that has been boosted to $3.2 million.

An $188,000 Virginia BASSMASTERS Invitational is set for Kerr at South Hill, May 6-8, 1992.

B.A.S.S. has boosted the purse of its invitational tournaments by $13,000 and its Top 100 events will pay $289,200, a $58,000 increase.

A Top 100 tournament is scheduled for Lake Norman, N.C. the week following the Virginia contest.

Other stops include the Mississippi and Illinois river in Illinois; Lake Chickamauga, Tenn.; Lake Murry, S.C.; Grand Lake, Okla.; Lake Lanier, Ga.; Harris Chain of Lakes, Fla; St. Johns River, Fla.; Sam Rayburn Reservoir, Texas; Lake Guntersville, Ala.; Beaver Lake, Ark.

Two qualifying events remain in the current season, the Missouri BASSMASTER Invitational, May 1-3 at Lake Martin, Ind., and the BASSMSTER BP Top 100 at Bull Shoals, Ark., May 8-11.

Friday, Zell Rowland won the Alabama BASSMASTER Invitational with a 55-pound, 10-ounce catch that included a 9-pound, 11-ounce largemouth. No Virginian finished in the money, and none has enough points thus far to qualify for the 1991 BASS Masters Classic.
