MAYBE TED WILL COME TO HIS SENSES

IT'S PROBABLY too much to hope for the people of Massachusetts to demonstrate the moral fiber needed to get Ted Kennedy out of the Senate. And we certainly should not hold our collective breath for the Democratic leadership in the Senate to take any disciplinary action.

So I guess the best we can do is pray that there is still enough of the Kennedy family "public service" blood flowing in his alcohol-influenced veins to bring Ted to the decision that he should no longer sit on the Senate's Judiciary Committee and pass judgment on who this nation's judges should be.

Perhaps the Agriculture Committee is more in keeping with his barnyard lifestyle. DON K. CLEMENTS BLACKSBURG
