ROCKY MOUNT - Mrs. Mary Lee McCabe Ward, age 53, of Rt. 4, died Sunday, April 14, at Lewis-Gale Hospital, following a long illness. She was an active member of Gogginsville United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Junior League of Roanoke Valley, the Roanoke Valley Christian Woman's Club, the Lewis-Gale Medical Wives, and the Roanoke Academy of Medicine Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Thomas S. R. Ward, MD; daughters, Mary Carroll Seyler, Blacksburg; Juliet Ward Ferguson, Rocky Mount; sons, Thomas S. R. Ward, Jr., William V. Ward, both of Virginia Beach; her mother, Mary Carroll McCabe; brother, Lewis Bradwell McCabe, both of Charleston, S.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Gogginsville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stanley Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Gogginsville United Methodist Church, RFD 4, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151; or the Lewis-Gale Medical Foundation, Salem, Va. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the Gogginsville United Methodist Church from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Arrangements by Lynch Funeral Home.
