BLACKSBURG - Mrs. Edith K. (Katie) Hackett, age 66, died Sunday morning, April 14, 1991, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was a former registered nurse at Radford Community Hospital, and had been active in her church and in local charities. Mrs.Hackett is survived by her husband, James E. Hackett, who is a professor at V.P.I. & SU. Also surviving are her children, Donald J. Hackett of Annandale, Va.; Phillip J. Hackett of Patrick Springs, Va.; Carol A. Kipps of Lafayette, La.; Patricia L. Hackett of Kingston, N.Y.; a son-in-law, Rexford A. Kipps; a grandson, Kyle A. Kipps of Lafayette, La. The family will receive friends at Hoy-McCoy Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral mass will be given at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Paul Gallagher will officiate. A graveside service will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 706 Harding Avenue, Blacksburg, Virginia, 24060, or a charity of ones choice.
