ARIZONA OUT OF RACE FOR OAK HILL'S ALEXANDER

Arizona has signed point guard Damon Stoudamire from Portland, Ore., and has dropped out of the recruiting battle for Cory Alexander from Oak Hill Academy.

Alexander, named Mr. Basketball in Virginia by the Roanoke Times & World-News, has narrowed his choices to Virginia and Michigan and is scheduled to announce his decision Saturday in Waynesboro.

According to radio reports, Stoudamire was headed to Louisville until an 11th-hour change of heart. The Arizona staff had indicated it would sign whichever point guard was first to commit to the Wildcats.
