JOHNSTON MUSEUM EVENT MARKS REOPENING

An open house will be held at the Andrew Johnston House Museum, 208 N. Main St., Saturday and Sunday. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday hours are 2 to 5 p.m. The event marks the reopening of the museum following its closing for the winter months to reduce operating expenses.

The Andrew Johnston House, the oldest standing brick house in Giles County, was built in 1829. It was given to the Giles County Historical Society in 1983 by heirs of the Johnston family. The museum contains 19th-century antiques and has a research center with records of family histories. Volunteers are available to assist with genealogical research.

Beginning April 25, the house and the research center will be open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
