Sylvia Shafer Strickler, age 85, of Roanoke, died Monday, April 15, 1991, in a local hospital. She was the widow of Dr. Frank A. Strickler and was a member of Williamson Rd. Church of the Brethren. She is survived by two nieces, Barbara Shafer Ohmsen, Chesapeake; Priscilla Shafer Jamison, Lexington; one nephew, Thurman H. Kinzie, Troutville; two brothers-in-law, Charles W. Gray, Roanoke, Stanley S. and Bessi Huffman Strickler, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, with the Rev. J. Weldon Myers and Robert L. Alderman officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.
