The National Restaurant Association's Education Foundation developed the course in recognition of the need to improve sanitation practices. The association has called on food service managers voluntarily to seek training and certification in safe food handling. The state Department of Health gives credit for certification on their risk assessment ratings of food-service establishments.
The course will be taught at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, 107 W. Main St. Registration ends April 24 and is limited to 20 participants. The $88 registration fee includes textbook, testing fee, certificate, lunches and breaks.
