The event is expected to draw up to 8,000 people from Virginia and other East Coast states. It will feature eight different breeds of seedstock cattle as well as events of interest to the whole family.
A working cattle-dog demonstration, a cattle-working contest, a cattle-roping demonstration, a calf scramble, bluegrass music and a beef cook-off will be featured.
Among the farms participating are Spring Lake and Paramont Ranch of Abingdon, Virginia Tech at Blacksburg, Lynn Brae of Daleville, Foggy Mountain Charolais of Fancy Gap, Falling Springs Salers of Hot Springs, Barksdale Farms of Rocky Mount and several other Western Virginia farms.
Admission to the expo is free, but tickets for the Friday night beef festival dinner and bluegrass music cost $15.
