FERRUM HOLDS OFF LYNCHBURG COMEBACK

Ferrum fended off a five-run rally in the final two innings and defeated Lynchburg 8-6 in a college baseball game Tuesday.

Kevin Alger (6-1) earned the victory for the Panthers (21-4), giving up two hits and one earned run, walking three and striking out five in five innings. Scott Clawson recorded the save, his fifth.

Jerald Smith, Jeremy Hill and Chris Holt each had three hits for Ferrum.
