20th century music
Composer Bruce Mahin will give a program on technology in 20th century music at the Roanoke Museum of Fine Arts on April 25.
His presentation, which will include samplings from the work of about a dozen composers, will begin at 7:30 p.m. It will be the third and final program in the Contemporary Art Group's 20th Century Music Encounter Series.
Mahin is director of the Center for Music Technology at Radford University. He holds a doctorate from the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
The 20th Century Music Encounter Series is part of CAG's Gift of Music Project, which aims to make important works of 20th century fine arts music available to the public. Members of the public are invited to pledge gifts of fine-arts music compact discs to a collection that will be catalogued and offered to Roanoke public radio station WVTF-FM.
