MOBILE HOMEOWNERS AMONG FINEST PEOPLE

MANY ANGRY owners of mobile homes (not trailers) resent the statement by Douglas Cundiff of Key Lakewood (news story, March 27) that many people who rent in trailer courts at Smith Mountain Lake are "riffraff."

If it hadn't been for the so-called trailer courts and campgrounds, he most likely would not be residing on the lake now. They are what brought popularity to the area in the first place.

Tenants in our mobile-home park are some of the finest people you would want to know. We could all enjoy condos or fine homes, but we choose to enjoy the freedom and friendly atmosphere. We don't feel we have to put on our finest clothes or jewels to walk out our front door. We don't have to impress anyone.

Our mobile homes are our peace of mind away from our everyday hectic life, and we really don't like having to look at these residents with fine homes, wondering if they really enjoy them on weekends or worrying about paying for them.

We would like to invite these residents so done in by mobile homes on any holiday during the summer, because we enjoy cookouts, games and good clean fun. They would probably enjoy themselves so much they would want to rent a space for a mobile home. Sorry, we would have to decline because we are full to capacity.

They don't own the lake, and if they do not wish to look at mobile homes on the lake, they should move! CAROLYN T. CAMPBELL DANVILLE
