Mrs. Evelyn Carter Howell Brown, age 71, of Salem, died Tuesday in a Salem hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward S. Brown. She is survived by two daughters, Edwina Hurley; Kay Aldridge, both of Salem; three sisters, Ena LaFerniere, Downy, Calif; Carrie Lee Uebel, Salem; Sarah Starkey, Hayes; four grandchildren, Bruce Edward Hurley; Zandra Diana Hurley; Keith Brian Hurley; Edward Wallace Aldridge, all of Salem; two cousins, Edith Craighead; Helen Lacy, both of Roanoke. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with Jim Herron officiating. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to your local rescue squad. Arrangements by being handled by Lotz Salem Chapel.
