REPORTS ANGER ATTORNEY, POLICE

The attorney for the woman who alleges she was raped at the Kennedy estate said Wednesday he's "shocked and appalled" over reporting of her name in newspapers and on network television.

Palm Beach police also expressed displeasure with reporting of the woman's name.

"This woman has been put on trial and there has not been a trial or even an arrest yet," said Police Chief Joseph Terlizzese.

The 29-year-old woman told police she was raped near the swimming pool of the Kennedy estate early on March 30.

Police have identified William Kennedy Smith, nephew of Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., as the suspect.

Smith has denied any criminal offense. No one has been charged.
