USAIR TO SELL ASSETS, OKS SERVICE CONTRACT

USAir said Wednesday it has reached an agreement in principle to sell assets of San Diego subsidiary Pacific Southwest Airmotive to Aviall of Texas. Aviall will also assume the leases on Airmotive facilities, and Airmotive will discontinue operations.

In conjunction with the asset sale, USAir has selected Aviall, a subsidiary of Ryder System, to perform overhaul maintenance on USAir's CFM56 jet engines. While USAir will realize no material gain or loss from the asset sale, the company does expect to realize considerable savings from the service contract with Aviall.
